The Secret of Health and Happiness

The secret of health and happiness lies in successful adjustment to the ever-changing conditions on this globe; the penalties for failure in this great process of adaption are disease and unhappiness.

Tomorrow

If there is a tomorrow when we are not together, there is something you must always remember.  You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think, but the most important thing is, even if we are apart, I'll always be with you.

Jiao Tu San Ku

The idiom literally means that a wily hare prepares several burrows to hide. It is used to indicate having more hiding places or methods.

The proverb comes from a story in Stratagems of the Warring States. Lord Mengchang of the Qi State in the Warring States Period had a hanger-on named Feng Yuan. Once, Feng was sent to the area of Xue to collect debts. When he got there, he found that all obligors were poor, so he cancelled the debts in the name of Lord Mengchang and burned all of the bonds. On his return, Feng told Lord Mengchang that he had bought benevolence and unrighteousness for the latter.

Later, Lord Mengchang was deposed and had to live in Xue. Hearing the news, the local people, young and old, all walked dozens of li and lined the road to welcome him. At this moment, Lord Mengchang finally realized the value of benevolence and unrighteousness that Feng Yuan had bought for him. He expressed his gratitude to Feng, who replied, "Only with three burrows can a wily hare avoid the risk of death. Now you have only one resting place, so you cannot rest easy yet."

There is no Quiet Place in your Cities

There is no quiet place in the white man’s cities.  No place to hear the unfurling of leaves in spring or the rustle of an insect’s wings…
The Indians prefer the soft sound of the wind darting over the face of the pond, the smell of the wind itself cleansed by the midday rain or the scented with pinion pine.

The Spark of Life

"Let all in this little circle find themselves and God, because you and God are one.

"Here is a big light, say a candle, which stands in the center.  Around it are smaller candles, but they are all part of the same materials as the larger candle.  You take the smaller candles and light them from the big one, then you have the spark of Life.  Can you then understand what is meant by being a spark of God?

"When you die, as Christians call it, you only blow out the candle.  The tallow has gone back to the elements.

"Find God within you, then you have Power, Strength and Love, and the learning to get Wisdom."

The Road of Dreams

Take the road that stretches out before you,
Walk in the dusk and know the end is bright.
Take what comes and find the way to glory
Much may go wrong – but even more comes right.

Face the day however hard before you
And with tears upon your cheeks still wet
Learn to smile and keep on looking forward –
Life is not done because the sun is set.

What your Brain Believes

Your success or failure in anything, large or small, will depend on your programming, what you accept from others and what you say when you talk to yourself….

It makes no difference whether you believe it or not.  The brain simply believes what you tell it most.

Change Your Self-Worldview

Our self-worldview that we call normal is really a retarded one – clamped down, narrow, acculturated.

"Because we don't know who we are, we are destroying the planet and ourselves" – Krishnamurti

Caron B. Goode writes,

"Frankly, I've never heard anything so big and so accurate as that statement.  It focuses attention on the inner world, not on the outward world like financial markets and banking.

"Unless we grow up, discover who we really are and know our right place in the world or universe rather than who we think we are, we will continue to destroy each other and the planet.  We are doing it so well we don't have that much time.

"There's nothing that's going to change because everything is being reconstructed out of our same self-worldview.  Unless we change our self-worldview, which is the hardest thing to do, we're toast."

The Gateway into the Higher Life

The spirit with transfigured face, gazing raptly upon some vision, said: "Look at that open door!  It is so beautifully engraved.  It has engraving on it:

The Door of Life
Understanding of Life
Understanding of God in the True Sense

"The door is opening, very slowly and we look in.  What a beautiful Hall!  The altar in front is so beautiful, so beautiful!  On the altar, in the centre, is a beautiful statue which represents Wisdom.  There is a statue of Truth, one of Love, one of Understanding, one of Honesty, one of Life and one of Modesty.

"Wisdom is the centre statue.  There are seven statues in all, each holding a light, each one of seven colours – three on each side of Wisdom, each with a light, all blending into Wisdom, the beautiful white light.

Wisdom
Truth          Honesty
Love                                        Life
Understanding                                                      Modesty

"From these colours come the seven musical notes.  Each note corresponds to a colour and then goes forward to the centre and blends into Wisdom.  There the real truth of life and an understanding of God is learned.

"That is beautiful.  See those colours blend!  They go on and on, blending in all ways, into forms, into all kinds of shapes, into stars and flowers and then they become music.

"Now they form into leaves, buds and flowers – music taking form and colour.  The music itself – I never heard such beautiful music.

"They say to me: "This is the Gateway into the Higher Life.  You have had a glimpse of it, but you cannot be there"

"There is one who says: "We have to learn our lessons, to be humble, to be charitable, to serve.  Learn to be honest and sincere, then you can enter that beautiful Hall.  Take up the cross and follow me.

"That cross represents crucifying of self – selfishness, jealousy, envy, bigotry, dogma, creeds, false belief and pride.  Take your cross and follow me.""

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny

Mindfulness

                   You need not do anything

Remain sitting at your table and listen

                   Just wait

And you need not even wait

Just become quiet and still and solitary

And the world will offer itself to you

                   To be unmasked

                   It has no choice

It will roll in ecstasy at your feet.

Pre-existence and the Immortality of the Soul

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
     Hath had elsewhere its setting,
          And cometh from afar:
     Not in entire forgetfulness,
     And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:
Heaven lies about us in our infancy!
Shades of the prison-house begin to close
     Upon the growing Boy,
But He beholds the light, and whence it flows,
     He sees it in his joy;
The Youth, who daily farther from the east
Must travel, still is Nature's Priest,
     And by the vision splendid
     Is on his way attended;
At length the Man perceives it die away,
And fade into the light of common day.

Healing the Gulf Oil Spill

Chief Arvol Looking Horse

asks us to join together in

healing the Gulf Oil Spill

The following letter was just sent by Chief Arvol Looking Horse (Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe) to the world's religion and spiritual leaders. It asks us all to help in healing the Gulf of Mexico oil spill as well as all the other disasters humans have created on our Mother Earth. Please read this and consider doing your part, whatever that might be.

My Relatives,

Time has come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their Leaders. I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, to come together from the Spirit of your Nations in prayer.

We, from the heart of Turtle Island, have a great message for the World; we are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing their sacred color, which have been signs for us to pray for the sacred life of all things.

As I am sending this message to you, many Animal Nations are being threatened, those that swim, those that crawl, those that fly, and the plant Nations, eventually all will be affected from the oil disaster in the Gulf.

The dangers we are faced with at this time are not of spirit. The catastrophe that has happened with the oil spill which looks like the bleeding of Grandmother Earth, is made by human mistakes, mistakes that we cannot afford to continue to make.

I asked, as Spiritual Leaders, that we join together, united in prayer with the whole of our Global Communities. My concern is these serious issues will continue to worsen, as a domino effect that our Ancestors have warned us of in their Prophecies.

I know in my heart there are millions of people that feel our united prayers for the sake of our Grandmother Earth are long overdue. I believe we as Spiritual people must gather ourselves and focus our thoughts and prayers to allow the healing of the many wounds that have been inflicted on the Earth. As we honor the Cycle of Life, let us call for Prayer circles globally to assist in healing Grandmother Earth (our Unc'I Maka).

We ask for prayers that the oil spill, this bleeding, will stop. That the winds stay calm to assist in the work. Pray for the people to be guided in repairing this mistake, and that we may also seek to live in harmony, as we make the choice to change the destructive path we are on.

As we pray, we will fully understand that we are all connected. And that what we create can have lasting effects on all life.

So let us unite spiritually, All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer. Along with this immediate effort, I also ask to please remember June 21st, World Peace and Prayer Day/Honoring Sacred Sites day. Whether it is a natural site, a temple, a church, a synagogue or just your own sacred space, let us make a prayer for all life, for good decision making by our Nations, for our children's future and well-being, and the generations to come.

Step up, Listen and Act

I hope that we all step up, listen and act on the advice given in our messages.

I was thinking today while tidying up the garden and realised that people think that the spiritual way is all about the fantasy lands and the non reality, so not considering taking full responsibility of our lives in which we have been given.

They almost can't believe that they have to make efforts to get themselves into that place they so desperately want to be - I feel it's a shame that when these people are given the tools they still don't want to use them.  They want a miracle, which generally results in material gains, but by doing nothing.

The Beating of Drake's Drum

I came across this historic account today in a reputable history book and thought you might find it interesting.
As Francis Drake lay dying in the West Indies in 1596, he asked for his drum and then ordered it to be sent back to England, swearing to return to defend his country when it was in danger.
It was returned to Buckland Abbey.
The drum was said to have rattled when Napoleon Bonaparte was brought to Plymouth after the Battle of Waterloo.  It has been hear three times recently.
1. When WWI started.
2. The drum was taken on board the Royal Oak and sounded when the German fleet were approaching in order to surrender – so perhaps it was a victory salute? Men were sent below by the Commander to find out twice what was making the noise and twice they returned having found nothing.  The Commander himself went below as all men were at battle stations – nobody could have beaten the drum. When the Royal Oak dropped anchor the drum stopped.
3. The last time was during the darkest hours of WW2 when British forces had crossed the channel and were being driven back across the beaches by the Germans.  The drum was heard to sound.  A miracle was required to stop our forces being massacred.  From the coastal towns of England, anything that could sail, set sail and brought our men safely home.
I was deeply touched that over four hundred years later, Drake was still spiritually present to aid this country in times of danger.  Can Mustafa tell us any more about Drake and how he helps us in times of danger?

I am the captain of my soul

 Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
